Residency at Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival 2017

In a cold empty house, a naked prince ponders on his life’s doings and the worth of it all. Built on found foutage and archives, this filmed performance is based on the traditional tale of a Romanian prince who traded his soul for eternel youth.

In the winter of 2017, Bucharest Experimental Film Festival invited video artists for a week of co-creation to be exhibited during a dedicated screening. This is the collaboration of Zoe Aiano, Petra Belc, and myself.

As I strip for the first time in my life under the camera’s eye, the ice cold temperature under zero, the gloom of the abandonned house, the incarnation of a lost soul, the scary anonymity of a clown mask, I start to shiver. But the shivers are of elation : I am. I finally am embodying my art : vulnerable yet proud. It really is beautiful and strange and new.
